We tried to enjoy our last few weeks in Rexburg/Idaho Falls in the extreme heat. My Neon's AC finally gave out so I drove Jed's Volvo all summer so me and my kiddos wouldn't die.
this day my water bottle water literally scotched my throat
we found this awesome froyo place way too late!
We decided to move to Vancouver, WA and rent Jed's parents' house they recently moved out of and haven't sold yet. We like the area and we're within about 3 hours drive of all 4 of our parents, which is nice.
Packing, sorting, throwing away, and donating tons of stuff, deep cleaning, and loading the moving truck took us days and was straight exhausting. This was the biggest move we've done together as we have more stuff, have actual furniture, and didn't have any help. The moving truck was super expensive to rent, car hard to get on the dolly, and anxiety-inducing for Jed, who had to drive it.
There was lots of delays in leaving when we originally wanted on August 17th as we couldn't get the dolly til the 19th, then took too long packing and finishing cleaning and almost didn't leave on the 20th either. Jed left at 4:30pm with the truck and I stayed to finish deep cleaning and left at 7:30pm in the Volvo with Nova. We met up and stayed over in Baker City and then drove the rest of the way the next day and got in that evening. I hope we don't have to do another physically and mentally exhausting move again for a very long time!!

finally, moving day
Our new house is way too big for us, but we will be renting it for an excellent price and it's awesome we have the opportunity. It has 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, large newly redone kitchen, living room, family room, dining room, 2 car garage, and a small yard. We don't have nearly enough stuff to furnish it, but we're making it work well enough for now. It's in a cute neighborhood on the edge of town close to the freeway entrance and the church ward is super friendly and welcoming. More pictures to come later.
this. is. our. first. house!
Nova loves her new backyard!
unpacking was a little easier
We started applying to jobs way before we left and though I've applied to 34 jobs at time of press and Jed had extensive interviews with two companies, we have had no success in acquiring a job yet, which is very frustrating at this point in the game, but we will keep trying. :\
We visited my mom for a super quick hello so we could get back for interviews and job searches. It's nice we are close enough to do more weekend visits.

My birthday was on the 30th and we went to a nice Thai dinner in town as well as got a lovely vegan parfait. We spent the day prepping for our Hawaii vacation, which we were gone for from August 31st til September 10th and which will have it's own blog post. ^^
Since getting back to the PNW we have been hanging out, applying for jobs, seeing Jed's parents occasionally, going to the Fruit Loop with them, celebrating Nova's birthday on September 11, going to the Farmer's Market and getting fresh organic produce, getting a week-long cold, doing horrendous amounts of homework (on my part - the semester started on September 5th), playing video games (mostly on Jed's part), walking the dog, cooking, baking, and trying not to get bored or discouraged by not having jobs yet.
basil should always come in $2 bouquets
